November Rewind

November came and went in a hurry, didn't it? I was riding on a reading momentum the first two weeks and then lost steam toward the end there. I'm not sure what happened. I think the chilly weather played a part in it as well. All I wanted to do was sleep. I'm like a freaking polar bear. Lol.

The best thing about last month was the transformation of the blog. I was getting bored with my minimalist look so I thought it was high time for a change. It still looks relatively zen but at least it has a bit of colour now. Anyway, I'd like to thank the fabulous, Dreamy Sim for her skillz, yo. I think we only exchanged one or two emails to figure out the look I was going for. Seriously, she's amazing.

Anyway, I read some this month but I wasn't as productive as I'd like to be, I'm afraid. I'm hoping December will be different but I'm not holding my breath. Christmas is upon us so, hectic, hectic. No Christmas trip for us this year which means we'll be busy carting the kiddies around from one family shindig after another.

As far as my Goodreads goal (300) is concern, I know I won't make it so I'm just shooting to break my record last year (289).

Here's what I read last month:
  1. Night Thief by Lisa Kessler
  2. Tempting the Player by J Lynn
  3. Innocent Fire by Brenda Joyce
  4. Dark Fires by Brenda Joyce
  5. Fire Storm by Brenda Joyce
  6. Violet Fire by Brenda Joyce
  7. Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
  8. Fifteen Shades of Gay by T. Baggins (reviewed on GOODREADS)
  9. Fires of Paradise by Brenda Joyce
  10. Scandalous Love by Brenda Joyce
  11. Rockoholic by CJ Skuse
  12. Splintered by AG Howard
  13. Broken Hart by Ella Fox
  14. In Flight by RK Lilley
  15. Mile High by RK Lilley
  16. The Edge of Never by JA Redmerski
  17. A Political Affair by Mary Whitney
  18. The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred
  19. Serial Summer by Angel Lawson
  20. Sanctum by Sarah Fine
Average Rating for November: 3.05 out of 5 Stars (stingy, much?)
RECOMMENDED READS: Sanctum by Sarah Fine, The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred

The very first purge giveaway on the blog was won by:

Zemira Djedovic

She won the Violet Eden Series by Jessica Shirvington.

The other blog still needs a bit of tweaking so I'm not sure when we're going to launch it now. It may happen this month or maybe we'll do it in 2013. We'll see.

That's what happened last month.
How was your November?

    1. Hahahhah. It's the combination of complete disregard for life that enabled me to read so much....jk. Husband's very understanding but I don't procrastinate (much) when it comes to chores. :)

  3. Wow 300! I'm surprised you wont make it. You are always reading something!! My November was not near as productive as yours but I managed to get a bit ahead only to fall behind :(

    1. I know right? but sadly, 46 books to read for the month of December is simply not feasible. Sigh.

  4. I love the colors on your blog layout. I thought I noticed something different the last time I stopped in but wasn't sure. It really looks great. :)

Also, I bow down to your reading skills. Almost 300?! That is crazy awesome. I'll be happy to beat my goal of 85. lol

    1. Thank you! I like it a lot :) I think I bit more than I can chew. Realistic goal is 220 so maybe next year, I'll shoot for that instead.

  5. Like new header, J.! I can see why your Christmas tree is white now. Very minimalistic and clean too *wink* 300 books would have been too uncomfortable for me. Even my 250 this year was pushing it. Good luck on breaking your last year's score, darling!

    1. :) Thanks, K. I'm pretty much like that in real life...hoarding books on the other hand, is a different matter altogether. I typically can't read when a room is cluttered; the irony of it all is that my bedroom is cluttered with books and that's where I do most of my reading.

  6. November was good, till yesterday. My father lost his job. He's been working in the same company for 17 years, and they fired him just like that...
btw. I'm happy that Zemmy, my coblogger and dear friend won the Embrace Giveaway. It's kind of my fault, I linked her to this giveaway. LOL

Anyway, I also hope your friend Zemmy is close enough so you can borrow her copies. :)

    1. I hope so too. I need a much more realistic goal in 2013...that is, if we're all still alive by then. :)

    1. Thanks, Rachel! I do believe I was pressured to read Sanctum because of everyone's mutual love for it. :) And The Sweet Gum Tree is just...beyond words.

  9. Oh hey NEW blog design! I love it, Joy! I think it really suits you!

I just wanted to stop by and congratulate you on finishing 20 books last month! That's awesome! And also for convincing me to add Sanctum to my wishlist! ;)

I need to look into The Sweet Gum Tree. I believe it's good, I just don't know if it would be for me!
